Laurence Wilson (he/him), BA, CCHW, PRC, SJA, SME is a dedicated public health advocate who has committed his work to educating the Detroit community about HIV through awareness, advocacy, and storytelling. As a Person Living and Thriving with HIV, he uses his lived experience to help others understand what HIV stigma looks like—including social, healthcare, and internalized stigma—and how each person plays a role in ending it. Through community presentations, digital media, and educational outreach, he has also helped increase awareness of Michigan’s HIV-related laws while promoting accurate, science-based information that empowers individuals and strengthens communities.

As the founder of Details at XI Media and Make 2Day Great Shop, Laurence believes that education is one of the most powerful tools for creating change. His advocacy encourages people to replace fear with facts, judgment with compassion, and silence with meaningful conversation. Guided by his late father’s words, “Somebody gotta do it!”, Laurence continues to use his voice to inspire action, reduce stigma, and help build a Detroit where every person living with HIV is treated with dignity, respect, and hope.
